“in-between nature and urban”
The planning area is located in the outskirts of Esslingen with correspondingly good connections to the city, but also close to recreational areas and rural surroundings. The design tries to take up this basic character. While the buildings near the center in the east of the site are designed in a block typology with corresponding courtyards, the western part is more the western part is rather developed with an urban village structure. The embedding of the architecture into the adjacent green areas gives the development a more generous character. The forest structure and the Champagne Creek in the south of the area surround the project area and form the main ecological structure. In general, the design attempts to open vehicular traffic in the area to be minimized with a more pedestrian and green-oriented design approach. In doing so probably the closest to the original use of the area in an urban context.

Das Planungsgebiet liegt in der Randzone einer Vorstadt von Esslingen mit entsprechend guter Anbindung an die Stadt, allerdings auch nah zu Erholungszonen und ländlicher Umgebung. Diesen grundsätzlichen Charakter versucht der Entwurf aufzunehmen.
Während die zentrumsnahen Gebäude im Osten des Areals in einer Blocktypologie mit entsprechenden Innenhöfen konzipiert wurden, ist der westliche Teil eher mit einer urban dörflichen Struktur entwickelt. Die Einbettung der Architektur in die angrenzenden Grüngebiete gibt der Bebauung einen großzügigeren Charakter. Die Waldstruktur und der Champagnerbach im Süden des Gebietes umgeben das Projektgebiet und bilden die ökologische Hauptgliederung. Grundsätzlich versucht der Entwurf den offenen Fahrzeugverkehr im Gebiet zu minimieren mit einem eher Fußgänger- und grünorientiertem Planungsansatz. Damit wird demr ursprüglichen Nutzung des Bereichs im städtischen Kontext wahrscheinlich noch am ehesten Rechnung getragen.

“kent ve doğa arakesitinde”
Proje alanı, batıya doğru gelişmekte olan Pliensauvorstadt kentinin periferisinde (peri-urban) yer almaktadır. Konumu itibariyle kır ile kent arasındadır ve her ikisiyle de bir diyalektik içerisinde olacak şekilde tasarlanmıştır. Mimari yapılar ve açık alanlar oluşurken parça-bütün ve kır-kent ilişkileri yumağında (reciprocal) gelişir, parçalanır ve kendi kent dokusunu oluşturur. Alanın doğusunda kent merkezine yakın olan yapılar avlulu parçalı blok tipolojisiyle tasarlanmışken; batısında yer alan yapılar yeşil içerisinde dağınık, üretken peyzaj ile iç içe bir urban-village dokusundadır.
Alanın güneyinde yer alan orman dokusu ve champagne deresi proje alanının çeperini çevreleyerek ana ekolojik bağlantıyı oluşturur. Bu yeşil arayüz / çeper Pliensauvorstadt kentini orman dokusu ile buluşturur. Proje alanına kattığı ekolojik etmenler dışında gürültü gibi kent ile olan olumsuz ilişkileri minimize eder. Champagne deresi yeniden canlandırılarak Bioswale olarak kullanılmıştır. Champagne Bioswale yer yer genişleyerek Retentionbecken leri oluşturur ve alanın mikroklima özelliklerine katkıda bulunur.
Optionsflache dahil tüm Masterplan 3 ana yapı adasından oluşur. Araç trafiğinin minimize edildiği yaya ve yeşil odaklı bir planlama yaklaşımı hedeflenmiştir. Çeperi saran yeşil arayüz, doğu-batı ekseninde yerleştirilen ekolojik omurga ile alanın içine taşınır. Yapı adalarını / mahalle dokusunu birbirine bağlayan bu ekolojik omurga yer yer genişleyerek ana meydanı, çocuk oyun alanlarını ve üretken peyzajı oluşturur.
