Maltepe Gülsuyu Cemevi

Cemevi is a house of gathering for multi-functional cultural activities structured around the religious Alevi ritual called Cem. Instead of falling into vulgar symbolic traps as is prevalent in architectural culture whenever religious architecture is the subject, ABOUTBLANK´s design approach emphasizes;(1) nature - culture continuum with the adaptive use of topography, (2) programmatic dissemination within an enmeshed cultural complex, (3) rich spatial diversity with the use of closed, open, and semi - open spaces, and (4) rigorous urban integration with the surrounding environment.
