“Disrupting the Foundations of Architecture” - TAK Seminar
Gökhan Kodalak, representing ABOUTBLANK, presented an architectural theory seminar titled “Disrupting the Foundations of Architecture,” which discussed the unshakable fixity of some of the immaterial "foundations" of architecture such as function, context, and agentive power. The seminar laid out the compact genealogical history of these notions and revealed how they turned out to become dogmatic postulates in the architectural milieu. Then, their assertive positions were challenged and deconstructed with comparative theoretical and practical works found in the interdisciplinary framework of music, theatre, art, and architecture. Finally, ABOUTBLANK’s experiments in open-source architecture were shared to be discussed during the Q&A session to get feedback about the creative possibilities these experiments offer.
